IBPSA-Singapore is collaborating a webinar event with CoolestSG on Cooling Energy Modelling of Smart Buildings – Opportunities and Challenges.

Brief Info:

In this joint webinar by CoolestSG (Cooling Energy Science and Technology Singapore) and IBPSA (International Building Performance Simulation Association), opportunities and challenges with energy modelling of smart buildings will be discussed. In the first part Dr Adrian Chong will introduce two open source R packages ‘eplusr’ and ‘epwshiftr’ to enable climate change research and data driven analytics using EnergyPlus. The objectives are to provide better and more seamless integration between EnergyPlus simulation engine, data- driven analytics, and climate change projections; and take advantage of the abundant statistical and data analytics packages on R. In the second part, Prof SK Chou will speak on building envelope performance modelling. The building envelope is the first level of defence against heat transmission into the air-conditioned space, and, to be certified energy efficient, a building will need to have its envelope meet the minimum thermal performance standard. Recent development to enhance the envelope performance criteria will be discussed.
